| SAP | Legacy | SAP SuccessFactors Compensation | Compensation Management | HCM | n/a | 2017 | 2017 |
In 2017, Pembina Pipeline implemented SAP SuccessFactors Compensation as its Compensation Management capability. The engagement was defined to provide third tier technical and business support with a focus on SuccessFactors modules Recruitment, Onboarding, Compensation, Performance and Goals, and Learning.
SAP SuccessFactors Compensation was configured to support standard compensation management workflows including pay planning, merit and bonus cycles, and calibrated salary planning across job families and grades. Configuration work emphasized role based access for managers and HR administrators, eligibility rule definition, compensation worksheet design, and approval routing to align pay processes with corporate grade and job structures. The implementation narrative centers on SAP SuccessFactors Compensation as the managed application for these functions.
Support responsibilities explicitly included handling process integration to other business systems, providing mapping, data reconciliation, and issue resolution for inbound and outbound HR data flows without naming downstream systems. Operational coverage encompassed HR, talent acquisition, learning administration, and HR operations, with third tier support acting as the technical escalation point for cross module transaction and data integrity issues.
Governance responsibilities included maintaining approval workflows, data validation rules, audit trails, and an escalation path for incidents and change requests. The support model covered release testing, configuration updates, and user acceptance coordination to preserve integrity of Compensation Management processes. SAP SuccessFactors Compensation functioned as the central tool under this governance model.

In 2016, Pembina Pipeline implemented Microsoft Power BI as a core visualization and analytics layer within a broader Microsoft BI Stack that included SSIS, SSRS, SSAS and SQL2016. The deployment targeted Analytics and BI capabilities to support Enterprise Datawarehouse initiatives, data analysis and business analysis across Pembina Pipeline.
The implementation paired an Enterprise Datawarehouse built on SQL2016 with SSIS for ETL, Kimball methodology–driven dimensional modeling, and SSAS semantic models to serve both self-service and governed reporting. Microsoft Power BI was used alongside SSRS for paginated reporting, enabling interactive dashboards while preserving scheduled delivery of operational reports.
Integration architecture centered on SQL2016 as the single source of truth, SSIS pipelines feeding dimensional schemas, SSAS providing analytical semantic layers consumed by Microsoft Power BI, and SSRS delivering formatted reports. Development and delivery followed Agile software development practices with JIRA used for sprint planning, backlog management and release coordination, aligning analytics deliverables with business analysis stakeholders.
Governance and design emphasized Kimball data modeling conventions and iterative rollout of subject area marts, with cross-functional involvement from data analysis and business analysis teams. The program focused on centralizing data models and analytics workflows to standardize reporting and accelerate access to governed BI assets.
