CloudBees Legacy CloudBees Feature Management Apps Development PaaS n/a 2021 2021 In 2021, PetDesk implemented CloudBees Feature Management to introduce feature flags for its customer-facing app, aligning the effort with Apps Development priorities for application and product development in North America. The deployment focused on runtime feature flagging and controlled rollout capability, bringing feature toggles directly into release workflows used by the product and engineering teams. CloudBees Feature Management was the central control plane for feature exposure and incremental releases. The implementation used feature flags to enable measured rollout tests, including constrained volume tests for SMS traffic during a provider transition, so the team could send limited volumes of SMS before wider exposure. Configuration centered on flag-driven targeting and progressive release rules to isolate new functionality and external provider traffic, which reduced deployment risk and supported iterative experimentation. The project explicitly enabled the safe transition of SMS providers while keeping broader production traffic unaffected. Operational governance shifted to flag-based release gates and staged rollouts under product team control, with procedures to run limited-volume tests and promote flags as confidence grew. The rollout covered PetDesk application and product development activities across North America, embedding experimentation workflows into normal release cadence. Outcomes stated by the team included reduced deployment risk and increased confidence to scale and experiment without full production exposure.
