In 2015, Phillips Construction implemented Explorer Eclipse from Explorer Software as its Construction ERP. The deployment targeted companywide project financials and operational workflows for a 100-employee United States heavy civil contractor.
Explorer Eclipse was configured to centralize Explorer accounting capabilities, job cost ledgers, and project billing workflows. The implementation aligned estimating outputs and schedule milestones with financial control points, enabling structured cost capture at the task and equipment level.
Integrations were explicitly established between Explorer Eclipse and the firm’s estimating and field systems, linking Pro-Est estimating system, Agtek take off system, Primavera scheduling and GPS blade control telematics in the equipment fleet. These integrations moved takeoff quantities and estimate data into Explorer Eclipse and used Primavera schedule milestones to drive project phase accounting and timing.
Operational scope covered field equipment, project delivery teams, estimating, scheduling and accounting functions, with Explorer Eclipse supporting equipment utilization tracking, schedule-driven cost recognition and centralized change order and billing processes. Governance emphasized standardized workflows between estimating, scheduling and accounting to support Phillips Construction’s stated benchmarks of competitive pricing, quick mobilization, high quality work and early completion.
