Axon Legacy Axon Performance Analytics and BI Analytics and BI n/a 2022 2022
In 2022, Pittsburgh Bureau of Police implemented Axon Performance, an Analytics and BI application, to shift how the agency viewed and utilized body-worn cameras. The deployment emphasized data-driven analysis of body-worn camera evidence and officer activation behavior to improve operational visibility and support policy compliance. Axon Performance was configured to analyze key body-worn camera metrics including activation rates, usage patterns, and compliance indicators, delivering dashboards and reports for supervisors and command staff. The solution’s Analytics and BI capabilities centralized event-level BWC data into actionable visualizations, enabling identification of areas for targeted training and streamlined evidence review workflows. Assistant Chief Ragland used Axon Performance to continuously share positive BWC use cases and to commend officers who regularly used the technology. Implementation extended into routine supervisory practice, with command using Axon Performance for transparency and behavior reinforcement, and Chief Scirotto explaining that transparency and data-driven insights helped ease initial fears and that concern diminished as officers saw how the tool supported their work. Governance shifted toward continuous monitoring and positive reinforcement, embedding Axon Performance into policy adherence checks and supervisory feedback loops.
