The SAP ERP ECC 6.0 configuration focused on core financial modules common to the ERP Financial category, including general ledger, accounts payable, accounts receivable, asset accounting, bank accounting and financial reporting and consolidation capabilities. Implementation work emphasized configuration for nonprofit sponsorship revenue flows and fund accounting, with standard SAP financial master data, chart of accounts alignment and period close orchestration adapted to the organization s sponsorship and program funding cycles.
Plan International s broader IT roadmap ran in parallel to the SAP ERP ECC 6.0 program and included a MERL system project using Vera Solutions Amp Impact and a sponsorship system RFP, a Cloud Migration initiative to move on premise hosting to Microsoft Azure, and a Mobile Device Management program for field data collection devices. These initiatives created programmatic touch points between financial processes and external systems for digital beneficiary tracking and monitoring evaluation reporting, requiring planning for interfaces, data handoffs and aligned recordkeeping between SAP ERP ECC 6.0 and programmatic data platforms.

In 2017, Plan International implemented SAP SuccessFactors Compensation to strengthen Compensation Management across HR and Shared Services. The deployment positioned the broader SuccessFactors HRIS as the single source of truth for people data across 80 locations after a major data accuracy exercise, and the HRIS became the organisation's single sign on platform in April.
The implementation included configuration and automation of employment lifecycle workflows, notably Onboarding, Compensation & Benefit, Time Management and Performance, extending the use of SAP SuccessFactors Compensation within the suite. Several SuccessFactors workstreams that had not previously been used were launched, with new workflows designed to remove offline actions and automate approvals and transactions.
Operational coverage encompassed a global audience of roughly 400 HRIS super users and wider HR professionals, managers and employees, with training materials produced in both English and French using the TTS software. Monthly HR metrics dashboards were produced for leadership teams, and HRIS reporting capabilities were used by Strategic Business Partners to cascade key messages to regions and sites.
Governance centered on a named subject matter expert who acted as the go to person for system configuration and reporting, and who created a workplace page and a quarterly HRIS newsletter to foster a global users community and encourage local records accuracy. Regular vendor engagement was maintained through quarterly SAP webinars and ongoing updates to training content, supporting continuous development and user support.
The rollout removed a significant number of offline actions from Shared Services, reducing their workload and easing SLA pressures, while establishing SAP SuccessFactors Compensation and the HRIS as operational tools for compensation administration and people data governance.
