In 2019, PME Cake implemented Red Technology tradeit Platform for eCommerce. PME Cake, a 60 plus year old brand based in the United Kingdom, had run a 12 month proof of concept beginning in 2017 on a basic off the shelf store to validate demand, and after seeing uptake pursued a production grade commerce platform to serve both B2B and retail customers and to enable future international channels.
The implementation configured the Red Technology tradeit Platform to deliver core eCommerce capabilities, focusing on catalog management, customer account and pricing models, B2B ordering workflows including account level pricing and approvals, merchandising and promotions, and a responsive storefront user experience. Platform configuration emphasized usability improvements over the initial trial system and built in multi channel storefront readiness to accommodate planned international launches.
Integrations included a direct integration with Microsoft Dynamics GP to synchronize master data, feed inventory and pricing into the storefront, and export online orders into back office order processing. The integration architecture linked commerce catalog and customer master data with GP driven finance and fulfillment processes to ensure order flows aligned with existing operational procedures.
Operational coverage targeted commercial functions that serve PME Cake s B2B distributors and retail customers in the UK, with an explicit roadmap for additional international channels. Governance and rollout used a staged approach to secure senior management and customer acceptance after the proof of concept, combining a controlled production launch, configuration governance and process changes to preserve traditional ordering channels while expanding online order capture.
