In 2022, PPB Group configured IBM Cognos Controller as its Group consolidation system within the EPM category to centralize Group Finance reporting, consolidation, and planning activities. The deployment positioned IBM Cognos Controller to support consolidated financial results, monthly flash reports, quarterly board papers, interim and annual reporting required for Malaysian stock listing compliance, and consolidated budgeting and forecasting workflows.
The implementation emphasized consolidation and reporting capabilities common to EPM solutions, with the IBM Cognos Controller instance used to produce executive summaries, board pack outputs, and audit-ready financial statements. Configuration work included consolidation rules and intercompany eliminations, close orchestration to generate monthly and quarterly consolidated outputs, and model configuration for budgeted and forecasted results where the finance function served as the person in charge and system sub administrator. Testing and validation activities were carried out by finance staff, and the system was exercised during period close and board reporting cycles.
Operational coverage extended across Group Finance and individual subsidiaries, with the consolidation outputs feeding tax and compliance review processes including Country by Country Report reviews and recurrent related party transaction monitoring. Governance practices included maintaining and revising Group Finance standard operating procedures, assigning sub administrators for IBM Cognos Controller, and embedding testing protocols and review checkpoints into the monthly and quarterly close and reporting cadence. PPB Group IBM Cognos Controller EPM implementation therefore served as the core consolidation and planning platform for the Group Finance function.
