In 2010 Public Bank Berhad implemented Finastra Misys FusionBanking Equation as its Core Banking platform, deploying the application onto an on-premises infrastructure that included IBM i-Series AS400 servers, X-Series and HP servers, and shared SAN storage across WAN linked branch servers. The implementation positioned Finastra Misys FusionBanking Equation to handle core account operations and centralized transaction processing within the banks enterprise infrastructure.
The deployment covered standard Core Banking functional areas, including core account processing, deposit and loan servicing, transaction posting and settlement, payment routing and payments message handling, and MIS reporting capabilities consistent with FusionBanking Equation. Configuration and operational responsibilities included multi-OS support for AS400, Microsoft and Linux hosts, and the use of the Finastra Misys FusionBanking Equation application for day to day core processing and operational batch cycles.
Integrations were explicitly managed with the banks SWIFT payment messaging environment, and the implementation was supported by networking and security infrastructure such as CISCO routers and CISCO firewalls. High availability and disaster recovery were realized through AS400 replication with MIMIX and Windows replication with Double take, together with dedicated DR servers and branch server footprints connected over the banks LAN and WAN fabric.
Operational governance and runbook discipline were instituted under the Head of System Administration, who managed core banking enhancements, production and DR procedures, IT compliance, risk and AMLA system support activities, and IT budgeting for the platform. Ongoing responsibilities emphasized infrastructure lifecycle management, application support for Finastra Misys FusionBanking Equation, and coordination between operations, branch IT, and risk and compliance teams.
