In 2020 Redpath Mining implemented CDP InEight Estimating and Project Cost Management to centralize estimating activities within its Estimating Department and to standardize the production of estimates, budgets, schedules and proposal documents used for bidding and execution. The deployment targeted the companys mine project portfolio and supported coordination between office-based estimators and site personnel, consistent with the Construction Estimating application category.
The implementation configured core Construction Estimating capabilities including a central cost library for labour, equipment and material rates, estimate-building workflows, schedule linkage for activity sequencing, and bid document generation. CDP InEight Estimating and Project Cost Management was applied to capture detailed cycle time calculations and to adjust theoretical outputs with historical performance, while templates and reporting workflows were established to produce tender submissions and internal budget studies.
Operational coverage included the Estimating Department led by a Senior Estimator, close collaboration with project management, and contributions from other functional groups across mine sites and corporate offices. The day to day use encompassed manual and automated interactions with spreadsheets, word processing, scheduling and presentation tools that estimators already used, and the solution supported processes that require proficiency with established estimating and scheduling software where experience with Hard Dollar and Primavera is considered an asset.
Governance was aligned to the Redpath Bidding Process, with formal review sessions led by senior estimating staff and structured handoffs to project management to preserve continuity between tender, construction and project completion. The rollout emphasized methodological consistency, effective documentation of commercial clarifications and bid rationale, and role-based responsibilities for producing and reviewing estimates.
