| The Access Group | Legacy | Access Financials | ERP Financial | ERP Financial Management | n/a | 2015 | 2015 | In 2015 Richmond Pharmacology implemented Access Financials as an ERP Financial application to upgrade its accounting infrastructure and centralize the finance function. The deployment targeted the entire finance organization and was positioned to support Board reporting, monthly management review cycles, and statutory compliance across the United Kingdom. The Access Financials implementation covered core accounting and control modules including accounts payable, accounts receivable, cashbook management, fixed asset register, and credit control, alongside the preparation and distribution of management accounts. The project included design and configuration of a standardized management account pack and budget versus actual workflows to support detailed variance commentary and monthly close processes. Operational coverage focused on the finance department, where the Financial Controller oversaw day to day accounting, credit control, and cash flow management while reporting results to the Board. The finance team interacted with external advisors such as bankers, lawyers and insurers to support statutory returns, VAT, PAYE, P11d submission and R&D tax credit preparation, reflecting a single-source financial operations model leveraging Access Financials. Governance and process changes accompanied the technical implementation, with instituted monthly meetings between stakeholders and management to review results and variances, new internal controls to improve information flow, and elimination of redundant processes. The Financial Controller led staff development through on the job training, exam progression encouragement and bi-annual appraisals with target setting, aligning people, process and system governance to support the ERP Financial deployment. Explicit outcomes reported included significantly improved cash flow reporting and forecasting, clearer management information enabling better decision making, and a materially improved budgeting process. Access Financials served as the system of record for statutory accounts preparation and audit schedules, while strengthening transparency and control within Richmond Pharmacology's finance operations. |
