Polygon Labs Legacy Polygon Supernets Blockchain Platform Blockchain n/a 2023 2023
In 2023 Ripio participated in the launch of LaChain, a Layer 1 network built using Polygon Supernets to support Ripio's wallet, exchange, and payments and DeFi products across Latin America. The deployment uses Polygon Supernets as the Blockchain Platform layer, targeting regional needs for low fees and high throughput. LaChain was taken public in 2023 to provide a production mainnet for LatAm transaction flows. Implementation work focused on embedding core blockchain capabilities into Ripio product stacks, configuring smart contract execution, on-chain settlement, and high-frequency transaction processing consistent with Blockchain Platform patterns. The configuration prioritized throughput tuning and fee optimization at the protocol and node level, aligning chain parameters to payments and DeFi transaction profiles. Ripio leveraged the Layer 1 Supernet architecture to provision isolated chain resources for its wallet and exchange workloads. Operational coverage concentrated on product teams for wallet, exchange, and payments, with engineering and operations owning node orchestration and monitoring across Latin America. The LaChain Supernet-based network provided a distinct environment for product-driven governance, enabling product teams to iterate smart contracts and settlement logic without impacting other networks. Governance and rollout followed a public mainnet launch in 2023, moving LaChain into production for payments and DeFi use cases across Ripio's LatAm user base. The stated intention of the Polygon Supernets implementation was to address regional needs around low fees and high throughput and to improve transaction scalability and user experience. Operational processes were adjusted to include chain parameter tuning, network monitoring, and smart contract release controls specific to the Supernet environment.
