In 2016, Riverside Healthcare implemented Epic ASAP to extend its Clinical Trial Management capabilities across the Kankakee, IL clinical footprint. The Epic ASAP implementation was delivered alongside Epic inpatient and ambulatory modules to support scheduling, device feeds, and cardiology integration consistent with an enterprise clinical application deployment.
The implementation included configuration and testing of core clinical interfaces and device integrations, using Epic ASAP as the central application for acute access and research workflows. Functional capabilities implemented included ADT interfacing, perioperative workflows via OpTime integration, pharmacy messaging through Willow Aesynt ConnectRx ADS, radiology and cardiology result flows via Radiant and McKesson Cardiology, and laboratory result routing through Beaker and Radiant to external physician office EHRs.
Integration architecture was built around documentable HL7, X12 and XML translation work, with the team designing, building and testing Cloverleaf engine translations to enable message exchange between Epic ASAP and third party systems. Explicit interfaces delivered included OpTime to McKesson Materials Management, Epic Care Ambulatory to Surescripts, device integration with Capsule and GE Carescape, Epic Care Inpatient and Epic ASAP to GE MUSE, and ADT feeds to more than 25 external systems, with ORU results sent to 12 external physician office EHR systems.
