In 2015 S Foods implemented IBM AS/400 as its ERP Financial platform. The IBM AS/400 hosts the companys core sales management and production management systems on IBM i, providing centralized transactional processing for the head office, accounting department, and nationwide sales offices.
Configuration work focused on preserving long-standing business logic embedded in IBM i applications while bringing financial control and reporting workflows into the ERP Financial environment. The core system remained highly customized through repeated repairs over many years, and reporting needs had historically relied on Query/400 assets.
In 2018 S Foods introduced PHPQUERY on the IBM AS/400 IBM i environment to elevate core data utilization. PHPQUERY was configured to call CL before and after query execution, enabling reuse of existing RPG programs and nearly 1,000 past query assets, and to attach query execution results to email for automated daily inventory distribution.
Operational rollout and governance were led by a five-person system planning section, with three staff trained and producing about 20 definitions initially. Usage expanded organically to roughly 30 locations and over 140 defined queries within three years, shifting governance from ad hoc Query/400 program creation to centralized query definitions and user-driven Excel processing, and enabling users to generate materials in under 30 minutes while preserving existing IBM i program investments inside the IBM AS/400 ERP Financial landscape.
