In 2021 Sandoz implemented SAP S/4 HANA as part of an ERP Financial initiative to centralize financial and master data services. The SAP S/4 HANA deployment replaced SAP ERP ECC 6.0 and served as the backbone for business partner master data and transactional finance processes across the organization.
The implementation implemented core Order to Cash, manufacturing, quality assurance, procurement and GTS transaction flows within SAP S/4 HANA while leveraging SAP Business Technology Platform to host SAP Fiori cloud based applications. SAP Fiori applications were developed to provide a 360 degree view of treatment orders, deliver user alerts, notifications and workflow tasks, and to automate creation of quotations, sales orders, purchase orders and process orders aligned to ERP Financial operations.
Architecturally the solution used SAP Business Technology Platform as the integration and application layer, with secure interfacing via the client API Gateway to an external cloud based Treatment Ordering and Scheduling SaaS used by hospitals, leukapheresis collection centers and cryopreservation centers. The landscape retained integrations to SAP ECC and a cloud based Bartender printing application, and included master data synchronization from SAP ECC into SAP BTP and SAP S/4 HANA using API driven integration patterns and cloud integration capabilities.
Governance and rollout emphasized joint design thinking workshops, product owner led business alignment and agile long lived teams, with SAP Solution Manager ChaRM used for change request management and SAP MaxAttention and other SAP support services engaged during design and implementation. The program met explicit compliance targets for GxP, data privacy and NFCM SoX processes, was technically prepared for 23 countries in five languages, went live with 150 plus end users and supported delivery of treatment for 59 plus patients by January 2022 while reducing manual interventions through ERP side ordering automation.
