OCLC Legacy OCLC Bibliotheca Library Management ERP Services and Operations n/a 2009 2009
In 2009, Santa Clara County Library District implemented OCLC Bibliotheca, a Library Management application, to enhance library circulation and materials-handling operations across its California branches. The deployment targeted patron self-service and returns as primary business functions, positioning OCLC Bibliotheca to manage RFID-enabled checkout workflows and automated handling processes. The implementation included Bibliotheca RFID self-check stations, security gates, and automated materials-handling solutions, configured to support faster checkout and automated return sorting. OCLC Bibliotheca was deployed to provide integrated self-check and security capabilities alongside automated physical media routing, aligning system configuration with branch circulation workflows and patron-facing interfaces. OCLC Bibliotheca was integrated with the districts SirsiDynix Horizon circulation system to coordinate item status, patron transactions, and returns processing. The integration linked RFID-based transaction events and gate security alerts into Horizon circulation records, enabling synchronized checkouts, returns, and security handling across branches in California. Project governance concentrated on circulation and materials-handling operations, with rollout across branches to standardize patron self-service and returns processes. The implementation delivered faster checkout and return workflows and improved security across branches, while centralizing automated materials-handling functions under the OCLC Bibliotheca Library Management deployment.
