| Open Stream | Legacy | Open Stream Biz/Browser DT | Apps Development | PaaS | n/a | 2021 | 2021 | In 2021, Sato implemented Open Stream Biz/Browser DT under an Apps Development initiative to deliver a supermarket SM integrated application. The deployment was announced in July 2021 and the application was bundled onto SATO's Android label printer FLEQV FX3-LX to support retail label issuance in Japan. The scope targeted in-store labeling use cases such as markdown pricing, JAN barcode issuance, and expiry date printing for supermarket environments. The implementation leveraged on-device application bundling and label rendering capabilities typical of Apps Development platforms, using Open Stream Biz/Browser DT to accelerate development cycles. Key functional areas included label template management, runtime layout configuration, print job orchestration for the Android runtime on the FLEQV FX3-LX, and barcode generation for JAN codes. Configuration focused on enabling quick changes to markdown logic and expiry printing without altering device firmware. Operationally the SM integrated application was provisioned on SATO’s FLEQV FX3-LX units, enabling direct in-store printing and label management workflows across supermarket locations in Japan. The deployment impacted retail store operations and logistics handling by embedding labeling functionality at the device edge, supporting shelf price updates, expiry monitoring, and item-level barcode issuance. No external system integrations were specified in source materials, the deliverable emphasized device-level application capability. Governance and rollout centered on bundling the SM integrated application with printer shipments and device provisioning for stores, announced in July 2021. According to the announcement, Open Stream Biz/Browser DT enabled faster app development for in-store labeling and improved label and printing functionality for retail and logistics operations. |
