SAP Legacy SAP S/4 HANA ERP Financial ERP n/a 2015 2016
In 2015, SABIC implemented SAP S/4 HANA as its ERP Financial platform. The engagement included advisory services on new functionalities and SAP best practices for SAP S/4 HANA to align finance operations with corporate accounting requirements. The implementation focused on ledger architecture and financial module configuration, with a customized solution that implemented parallel ledgers and Appendix ledgers to support multiple accounting views. SAP S/4 HANA Asset Accounting was configured to reflect business requirements, covering fixed asset master data, capitalization rules, depreciation areas, and asset posting flows consistent with SAP S/4 HANA Asset Accounting capabilities. Core ERP Financial workflows addressed general ledger posting, asset lifecycle management, and ledger reconciliation to support statutory and management reporting. Governance emphasized SAP recommended controls, with configuration rules for ledger mapping, accounting policy enforcement, and change control procedures for financial configuration. Advisory work prioritized aligning system configuration to SABIC business requirements rather than introducing additional technical integrations, positioning SAP S/4 HANA as the primary ERP Financial system for finance business functions.

Operationally the deployment integrated the public careers website with Infinite BrassRing to funnel applicant data directly into the ATS, enabling centralized candidate records and reporting for recruiting teams. Governance focused on role based access controls, requisition approval flows and workflow automation to standardize recruiter and hiring manager interactions with the system, while retention of candidate records and data capture supported compliance oriented HR processes.

Uptake Legacy Uptake Asset Strategy Library Explorer Asset Performance Management ERP Services and Operations n/a 2018 2018
In 2018 SABIC implemented Uptake Asset Strategy Library Explorer. The Uptake Asset Strategy Library Explorer is an Asset Performance Management application that leverages the Asset Strategy Library acquired from Asset Performance Technologies to provide equipment failure mode intelligence and strategy content for maintenance planning. The implementation centers on the Asset Strategy Library, which contains failure mode information for nearly 800 equipment types and supports preventive and condition based maintenance workflows. Functional capabilities implemented include failure mode and effects guidance, condition based maintenance rule sets, and content to inform learning digital twin models that dynamically adjust to changing operating conditions, plant requirements and economic market conditions. Operationally the workstream focused on maintenance, reliability engineering, operations and asset management within SABIC chemical and petrochemical sites, using the Uptake Asset Strategy Library Explorer to enrich Uptake industrial AI and IoT asset models. The ASL content also feeds an industrial asset graph mapping how subsystems, components and machines relate, enabling cross equipment strategy orchestration rather than isolated point solutions. Governance and rollout incorporated ASL as the domain content layer or the brains inside asset performance applications, pairing APT subject matter expertise with Uptake analytics to standardize maintenance strategy templates and decision rules. Outcomes stated with the ASL based approach include increased operational uptime and plant reliability, reduced operations and maintenance costs, and improved ability to safely manage risk.
