| AFAS Software | Legacy | AFAS Profit | ERP Financial | ERP Financial Management | n/a | 2014 | 2014 |
In 2014, SBM Offshore operated AFAS Profit as an integrated application supporting Finance, CRM, HR and Projects, categorized under ERP Financial. The Finance department in 2014 took responsibility for preparing a smooth transition on IT and the way of working toward a new financial system as part of a broader program.
AFAS Profit provided combined financial processing and project accounting capabilities tightly coupled with CRM and HR data flows, creating a single application boundary across these domains. Configuration and process work focused on chart of accounts alignment, transactional posting rules and inter-module workflows that governed project cost capture and financial close, reflecting typical ERP Financial functional requirements.
The local initiative aligned with a global SunSystems implementation program that moved the organization toward a dedicated financial system, SunSystems, for core accounting functions. That alignment required coordination between the core IT team in Monaco, local IT teams and multiple subsidiaries, and introduced integration considerations for adjacent systems that previously relied on AFAS Profit as an integrated source.
Governance emphasis centered on program-level coordination between the global change program and local subsidiaries, revised operational workflows within Finance and changes to how related local functional departments consumed financial and project data. Repositioning of IT and ongoing reorganisations increased the need for formal cutover planning, data reconciliation controls and structured change management to preserve transactional continuity during the transition.

In 2017, SBM Offshore implemented SAP Concur Travel as part of a Travel Management initiative with Arago Consulting to rationalize and harmonize travel and expense policy across the multinational group. The deployment targeted global consistency across the company headquartered in the Netherlands and operations centers in Monaco, Kuala Lumpur, Houston and Brazil, aligning travel controls with broader HR digitization objectives.
The SAP Concur Travel implementation focused on standard travel booking and expense management workflows, centralized approval flows and policy enforcement, and employee self service for travel and expense actions. Configuration work emphasized standardized data models and position based approval routing to accelerate processes and approvals, and to reduce manual, error prone activities.
SAP Concur Travel was implemented alongside SAP SuccessFactors as part of a coordinated program to provide a single source of employee and organizational data, and to improve integration with third party systems where required. The integration approach delivered live access to organizational structure and improved employee data quality, supporting compliance for SBM Offshore establishments worldwide.
Governance and rollout emphasized a single global way of working, standardized reports and consolidated ownership of travel and HR processes, with Arago Consulting supporting implementation and change activities. Explicit outcomes included standardization of HR processes in all countries, simplification of HR solutions and reduction of ownership cost, modernization of talent and performance processes, greater transparency for employees and managers, and improved employee experience and HR service quality.
