Shell Energy implemented Nexum Payment in 2022 to centralize Payment Processing for Shell Energy Retail finance operations. The deployment scoped Nexum Payment to daily cash application, bank reconciliation, sales ledger processing, and month end and year end reconciliation activities performed by the accounts team.
Nexum Payment was configured to support automated allocation and import of incoming customer payments into the Sales Ledger, posting of bank and sales ledger related journals to the General Ledger, and reconciliation of billing journals. The implementation covered configuration for reconciliation of balance sheet accounts against the Nexum system, handling of non-utilities invoicing and receipt allocation, and workflows for investigating unallocated receipts and customer payment queries.
Integrations explicitly implemented include interfaces between Nexum Payment and the company Sales Ledger and General Ledger for journal posting and payment allocation, and bank statement import flows to support daily reconciliation. Operational coverage emphasized Shell Energy Retail accounts functions, with responsibilities including reconciliation of indemnity claims, chargebacks and other bank claims, allocation of receipts, and pursuit of outstanding customer payments.
Governance and process design centered on standardized month end and year end bank reconciliation and journal posting procedures, defined investigation workflows for payment exceptions, and accounting controls for chargeback and indemnity claim handling. Nexum Payment serves as the operational hub for Payment Processing, accounts receivable management, and related finance controls within Shell Energy Retail.
