In 2016, SickKids Foundation implemented Microsoft Power BI as part of an Analytics and BI deployment to centralize reporting and analytical modeling. The engagement delivered BI reports, interactive dashboards, ETL pipelines and curated data models using SQL Server Integration Services, SQL Server Reporting Services, Tableau and Microsoft Power BI.
Implementation work included authored Power BI datasets, SSIS ETL packages, SSRS reports and Tableau extracts, together with maintained physical database models, indexes, partitions and constraints to support analytical query performance. Logical schema design and physical table modeling were provided to enable reusable analytical datasets and consistent dimensional structures for downstream reporting.
Integrations and operational coverage explicitly included SharePoint integration and data flows to support business processes for CASL compliance, Direct Marketing back-feed and Patient data management. The implementation supported cross-functional reporting across marketing, fundraising and patient data domains, aligning analytical datasets to those operational workflows.
Governance and operational maintenance emphasized database policies, constraint enforcement, index and partition strategies, and standardized logical data models to ensure consistent consumption of reports and dashboards. The program maintained ETL and reporting pipelines while providing data model artifacts to support ongoing analytics and BI operations.
