| SAP | Microsoft Dynamics NAV | SAP S/4 HANA | ERP Financial | ERP Financial Management | n/a | 2018 | 2019 |
In 2018, Signet Jewelers implemented SAP S/4 HANA as its ERP Financial system, migrating from Microsoft Dynamics NAV. The project delivered a global SAP S/4 HANA rollout intended to consolidate core finance functions and retail transactional processing across the enterprise, centralizing ledgers and enabling more consistent financial reporting within the SAP S/4 HANA application landscape.
SAP S/4 HANA was configured to provide core ERP Financial functionality including general ledger, accounts payable, accounts receivable, procurement-to-pay, fixed asset accounting, and financial close processes. Configuration efforts emphasized chart of accounts harmonization, intercompany accounting rules, period close workflows, and payments administration controls, and were aligned with order-to-cash exception handling and concurrent optimization initiatives to reduce order cancellations.
The implementation linked the SAP S/4 HANA financial backbone to omnichannel and eCommerce initiatives and to contact centre payment and refund workflows, creating unified transaction and reconciliation streams without naming specific third party platforms. Infrastructure workstreams such as data centre migrations and network upgrades were executed as part of the wider delivery program to ensure operational readiness for the SAP deployment, with operational coverage across finance, procurement, IT project portfolio management, and retail operations on a global basis.
Governance and delivery were managed through the IT Project Portfolio Management office, with a Senior IT Department Manager accountable for portfolio budgeting and resource allocation, overseeing c.9 direct reports and a wider pool of contract resources. Responsibilities included facilitation of the annual portfolio and budget cycle, allocation of project management and business analyst resources across c.50 annual projects and c.£5m CAPEX, tracking and reporting programme progress to C-level executives, IT procurement and payments administration, contract reviews and renewals across c.75 suppliers, and maintaining Software Asset Management and Sarbanes Oxley IT Project Delivery Framework compliance for in scope projects. SAP S/4 HANA is recorded as one of the key global projects alongside GDPR implementation, omnichannel initiatives, and contact centre telephony upgrades.

In 2015, Signet Jewelers implemented UKG Workforce Central Payroll (ex Kronos Workforce Payroll) to process payroll using Kronos. The deployment established a centralized Payroll platform to manage pay processing for the company, aligning payroll operations with HR and finance functions.
UKG Workforce Central Payroll was configured to support standard payroll modules including pay calculation, tax withholding and reporting, deduction management, retroactive pay handling, and payroll scheduling. The implementation emphasized payroll engine configuration and rule sets consistent with enterprise payroll control, and it reused Kronos time capture as the authoritative source for hours worked when available.
Operational integrations centered on consuming Kronos time and attendance data, producing payroll registers and formatted outputs for finance downstream systems, and maintaining audit trails and role based access for payroll and HR users. Governance practices focused on centralized pay calendars, pay rule stewardship, and payroll change control processes to support ongoing payroll operations within Signet Jewelers.
