In 2018, Smiths Interconnect USA added Trak Microwave Corporation into its existing Oracle E-Business Suite R12.2.3 environment to extend ERP Financial capabilities. The engagement consolidated Trak's discrete manufacturing and finance processes into the Smiths Interconnect Oracle E-Business Suite instance and targeted manufacturing, finance, procurement, order to cash and fulfillment workflows.
Oracle E-Business Suite modules implemented included General Ledger, Receivables, Payables, Order Management, Inventory, Procurement and limited HCM, with discrete manufacturing support provided through Bills of Materials, Purchasing, Shipping and Warranty Repairs. Financial control and reporting was supported via Costing, Cost Accounting and Financial Reporting configurations, while Projects and burden schedules were added to capture project and overhead allocations. The project configured suppliers, customers, items, organizations, employees and inventories to represent Trak Microwave operations within Oracle E-Business Suite.
The deployment included identification and execution of required data conversions from Trak into the Smiths Interconnect EBS instance, and preparation and execution of detailed test scripts covering sales orders, customer billing, costing and month end close. Functional design activities accommodated Sales Orders lifecycle, warranty repair flows, billing and shipping processes to align discrete manufacturing operations with Oracle E-Business Suite transaction models. Work was conducted by the functional design team in Thousand Oaks, California between October 2017 and February 2018.
Governance centered on configuring Smiths Interconnect finance modules to accept subsidiary-level master data, incorporate burden schedules and apply costing rules for accurate cost accounting. The engagement emphasized modular configuration, data conversion and test-driven validation, integrating Trak operations into the existing Oracle E-Business Suite R12 environment. Oracle E-Business Suite is the central ERP Financial system in this deployment.

In 2010, Smiths Interconnect USA implemented ECI Macola to support its Manufacturing ERP,Distribution ERP operations and concurrently developed a custom Dashboard to centralize Configuration Control workflows. The Dashboard was created to eliminate time consuming document handling and to serve as a single interface that consolidates engineering notifications and process control across core manufacturing business functions.
The implementation layered functional modules for configuration control, quality control, engineering design requests, corrective action tracking, and environmental compliance certificate management. Additional modules include a pre implementation part number and BOM builder, a router builder, mass update utilities, and centralized reporting with export to PDF, direct print, and Excel formats. Automation features were implemented to automatically send emails and assign tasks in Outlook at key trigger points, reducing manual handoffs.
ECI Macola is integrated as the source MRP system for centralized reports and the Dashboard incorporates bidirectional data transfer capabilities between the MRP systems in Florida and Costa Rica. Operational coverage spans office employees in both Florida and Costa Rica facilities, with the Configuration Control department as the initial owner and subsequent adoption by virtually all administrative and engineering staff. A planned SQL upscale for the Dashboard database was documented as part of long term architecture evolution.
Governance and process changes included elimination of duplicate manual entry and removal of company wide file maintenance by migrating documentation into a database driven workflow. Explicit outcomes reported include over 4500 ENs completed, more than triple recent throughput with fewer staff, reduction in average documentation time from five days to less than two, elimination of paper based processes for projects, and substantially faster information lookup within Macola through a single consolidated interface.

In 2021, Smiths Interconnect USA implemented Continually as a customer-facing chat presence on its public website, deploying the Continually application within the Chatbots and Conversational AI category. The deployment concentrated on embedding a web chat widget across product and contact pages to provide structured visitor engagement and inquiry capture.
Continually was configured with multi-step conversational flows, lead capture forms, qualification questions, and condition-based routing logic to automate first-touch qualification. The implementation leveraged Continually's visual flow builder and message sequencing to standardize initial responses and to capture structured metadata for follow up.
The technical architecture centers on client-side embedding in the corporate web stack and centralized administration through the Continually console. Operational ownership was aligned to marketing and demand generation for content and flow maintenance, with sales and customer support consuming captured leads and transcripts to manage follow up, tying the Continually implementation to marketing, sales, and support business functions.
Governance included scheduled review cycles for conversation content, tagging conventions, and analytics monitoring to drive iterative flow updates. Continually's conversational analytics and transcript review workflows were used to surface configuration changes and keep question-and-answer content current across product pages.
