| SimCorp | Legacy | SimCorp Dimension | Portfolio and Investment Management | Investment Management | n/a | 2017 | 2017 |
In 2017 SOKA-BAU implemented SimCorp Dimension as a front-to-back core platform for Portfolio and Investment Management to consolidate its investment operations onto a single system architecture. The implementation responded to constraints in handling multiple asset classes and to a fragmented toolset that required extensive manual reconciliation, with the stated objective of simplifying booking, risk measurement, compliance supervision, and reporting across its leave fund scheme and occupational pension fund operations.
SimCorp Dimension was configured to deliver true multi-asset class coverage across front-to-back workflows, including trade preliminary checks and booking, portfolio management, accounting and P&L attribution, risk measurement and limit supervision, and centralized reporting. The deployment established a centralized Investment Book of Record, providing a real-time golden copy of positions to support consistent risk calculations, portfolio look-through, and integrated P&L and risk analyses across the investment lifecycle.
Operational coverage emphasized risk management, asset management, portfolio management, compliance, accounting, and internal and external reporting functions, enabling cross-departmental access to the same timely data. The firm integrated ESG information into SimCorp Dimension and planned updates to include ESG and SFDR modules to support future regulatory reporting and the onboarding of new investment strategies, while also enabling ad hoc internal market risk reporting as market events dictate.
Governance and process changes centered on a single enterprise view for one investment truth, standardizing workflows from trade validation through to reporting and reducing manual reconciliations driven by disparate databases. According to SOKA-BAU leadership, the consolidated architecture increased automation and scalability, supported a stable risk-based approach to asset management, and underpinned external recognition for risk management in 2020 and 2021.
