In 2018 Spectris implemented SAP S/4 HANA Finance as part of its Project Uplift productivity programme. The Spectris SAP S/4 HANA Finance ERP Financial implementation was oriented to standardize and centralize finance capabilities to support the planned global finance and HR shared services centre in India and to align finance operations across its operating businesses.
The implementation focused on core ERP Financial capabilities typical of an SAP S/4 HANA Finance deployment, including general ledger accounting, accounts receivable and payable flows, financial close and reporting, intercompany accounting and master data foundations. Configuration work used a model company approach and an Agile sprint cadence to translate documented business needs into functional specifications and to prepare outline level solution designs for iterative IS design and testing.
Integration and operational scope were organized around the IS Transformation team and Enterprise Architects, with collaboration with Partners and Vendor to validate solution fit for operating companies and external customer interactions. The programme supported the finance function across group entities and fed into the establishment of the India shared service centre, with requirements gathered to ensure process standardization and handover to the SSC deployment team.
Governance practices emphasized full life cycle business analysis, requirements traceability and version control, process mapping using ARIS, user acceptance testing and the creation of test scenarios for Test management. Delivery included procurement-ready commercial translation of requirements, SSC induction and role based process and IS training, and ongoing product catalogue updates to maintain alignment between solution configuration and operating company needs.
