| BlackLine | Legacy | BlackLine Cash Application | AR Automation | ERP | n/a | 2015 | 2015 |
In 2015 Spotify implemented BlackLine Cash Application as part of its finance technology stack. The BlackLine Cash Application provided an AR Automation layer to streamline cash posting workflows and was maintained by Spotify's Financial Systems team.
Configuration work focused on cash application capabilities common to AR Automation deployments, including automated payment matching, remittance capture, automated posting to the general ledger, exception handling workflows, and reconciliation rule sets. Administrative responsibilities explicitly included user access provisioning, master data management, rule configuration, and ongoing tuning of matching tolerances and exception routing.
Operational integration connected BlackLine Cash Application with adjacent financial systems, with explicit dependencies on NetSuite for ledger posting and accounting entries, and with Concur and Coupa for supplier and spend data used in matching and exception resolution. Day to day operations required coordination across Procurement, Accounting, FP&A, Global Sourcing, and Financial Engineering, with frontline support and triage managed by the Financial Systems team based in New York and distributed across North America operating in Eastern time collaboration windows.
Governance emphasized JIRA based ticket triage and frontline administration, including direct handling and delegation of support cases, structured testing of ongoing improvements, and coordination for major system upgrades in NetSuite, Coupa, and BlackLine. The operating model balanced application change control, incident management, and continuous configuration under agile practices to sustain the BlackLine Cash Application within Spotify's finance ecosystem.
