In 2014, St. James's Place implemented Unit4 Business World to provide a unified ERP Financial backbone for core finance and HR administrative processes. The deployment was operated from the business change division with application support responsibilities aligned to an internal ERP Application Support team and hybrid workplace arrangements based in Cirencester.
Unit4 Business World was configured to support HR and Payroll functionality alongside Financials, with functional coverage extending to procure to pay, source to contract, workflow reporting and workspace capabilities that are described as desirable knowledge for support staff. The implementation included report development using Excelerator and RERX reporting tools, prototyping of small enhancements, and unit testing of fixes and configuration changes prior to deployment.
Operational support emphasized incident tracking and resolution within defined SLAs and OLAs, creation and maintenance of support documentation, and face to face liaison with internal stakeholders to triage and remediate issues. The support remit explicitly included maintaining support team logs and statistics, assisting wider ERP projects and initiatives, and performing deployments through an established change control process.
Governance under the Unit4 ERP program foregrounded system security controls, proactive assessment of system and process risk areas, and adherence to change control and testing disciplines. The primary operational objective for the ERP Application Support team was to minimize adverse business impact in the event of issues while sustaining reporting, workspace, and workflow capabilities delivered by Unit4 Business World.
