In 2021 Suffolk County implemented Workday HCM under Project IMPACT, deploying Workday HCM as the countywide Core HR platform for all county employees. Project IMPACT, Improved Management Personnel Engagement and Career Transformation, frames the county commitment to deliver a unified cloud based HRMS and payroll capability across municipal departments.
The implementation configures the Human Resources and Payroll modules within Workday HCM and emphasizes employee self service for personal information updates, online submission of time attendance and payroll transactions, time off requests, team management, pay stub access, recruiting and onboarding workflows, and training and development features. The deployment includes Workday HCM payroll functionality as part of the broader Core HR scope, and the platform is presented as mobile friendly and accessible via a single portal.
Suffolk County partnered with Accenture to configure and integrate Workday HCM and UKG, with UKG designated to handle advanced scheduling and time and attendance for divisions that have unique scheduling requirements. UKG integration is scoped to Police Department superior officers, detectives, patrol staff, 911 operators and dispatch, and detention attendants, to the entire Sheriff’s Department including deputy sheriffs, civilian support staff and corrections officers, and to FRES dispatch operations, while Workday HCM serves countywide HR and payroll processes.
Governance and rollout were organized through county HRMS communications and project channels, with the go live scheduled for December 27, 2021. The cloud based architecture centralizes HR and payroll data, applies standard security and data privacy controls, and is intended to improve manager connectedness and employee access to HR services through self service and mobile access.
