SAP Legacy SAP Service and Asset Manager Asset Performance Management ERP Services and Operations n/a 2021 2022
In 2021 the Swiss Armed Forces implemented SAP Service and Asset Manager to provide mobile maintenance capabilities as part of its Asset Performance Management initiatives. The deployment was positioned within SAP EAM in the Digital Supply Chain and targeted maintenance operations across the organization’s technical maintenance functions in Switzerland. The implementation followed Explore, Realize and Deploy phases, with configuration focused on SAP Service and Asset Manager mobile workflows and EAM functionality that aligns to SAP S/4HANA PM. Project activities included specifying SAP roles for maintenance processes, coordinating and executing functional tests, and aligning business user requirements with technology and development teams to ensure operational readiness. Integration work centered on connecting SAP Service and Asset Manager to SAP S/4HANA PM to synchronize work orders, equipment master data and maintenance notifications, enabling field technicians to manage tasks from mobile devices while maintaining back office transactional integrity. Operational solutions management responsibilities covered ongoing EAM and PM solution development, release testing, and support for the user organization as new functionality rolled into production. Governance was formalized through role definitions for maintenance process ownership and coordinated testing cycles, with a central coordinator role responsible for bridging business and technical stakeholders. The program emphasized controlled realignments of maintenance workflows and continued testing management for new releases to sustain SAP Service and Asset Manager within the Swiss Armed Forces Asset Performance Management environment.
