In 2025, TAP Air Portugal implemented Lufthansa Systems NetLine/Plan for Flight Management, becoming the 10th Star Alliance carrier to adopt the network planning solution from Lufthansa Systems. The implementation is delivered as a Software-as-a-Service solution hosted in the Global Aviation Cloud, chosen for its accuracy, unmatched speed in adapting network planning to market needs, and its ability to simulate market changes tailored to TAP’s network reality.
Lufthansa Systems NetLine/Plan is configured to support network planning and scenario forecasting workflows, with capabilities focused on forecasting future scenarios, simulating market changes, and evaluating operational alternatives. The implementation enables modeling and comparative analysis for new route launches, schedule changes, airline hub optimization, partnership changes across different future time frames, and other long-term network planning initiatives.
Operationally the NetLine/Plan deployment is scoped to TAP’s network planning and commercial decisioning processes and is positioned to inform commercial and revenue functions, including route and schedule strategy. Delivered as a cloud SaaS solution in the Global Aviation Cloud, the tool is intended to feed decision making through model-driven scenario evaluation and to be incorporated into TAP’s network planning cadence.
TAP’s stated expectation for Lufthansa Systems NetLine/Plan centers on improved forecasting accuracy and faster adaptation of network plans to competitive and market contexts, enabling the airline to comprehensively evaluate network options and identify best-fit solutions within different competitive scenarios.
