In 2012, Taylor Regional Hospital implemented Allscripts TouchWorks EHR in the Central Billing Office to operationalize claims intake and core revenue cycle activities. The deployment used the Electronic Health Record application Allscripts TouchWorks EHR to centralize coding ingestion, claims generation, and payment posting for patient clinic accounts.
The implementation configured code import workflows to ingest ICD 10 and CPT codes from patient clinic accounts for a batch of approximately 1500 insurance claims. Staff generated electronic claim files and transmitted claims using Quadax, and posted received payments and adjusted amounts according to EONS remittance guidance and patient check receipts. Routine activities captured in the system included accounts receivable management and insurance denial handling.
Allscripts TouchWorks EHR was integrated operationally with Quadax for electronic claim transmission and referenced EONS for remittance adjustment processes, supporting the Central Billing Office, billing operations, AR follow up, and denial management. The scope of use centered on revenue cycle and billing business functions tied to patient clinic accounts and insurer interactions.
Governance and day to day workflows included daily deposit ticket creation and verification, structured AR workflows for working accounts and denials, and cross coverage where billing staff assisted the CBO supervisor and filled in during absences. These procedural controls were embedded in the Allscripts TouchWorks EHR driven billing workflow to maintain deposit verification and continuity of CBO operations.
