Appian Legacy Appian BPM Suite Process Mining Analytics and BI n/a 2020 2020
In 2020, the British Columbia Teachers’ Federation implemented Appian BPM Suite to automate claims processing and case management for its Income Security Division. The deployment targeted Process Mining objectives, consolidating claim workflows and providing operational visibility across short-term services, long-term services, rehabilitation services and member withdrawals. Appian BPM Suite unites all aspects of a member's claim into a single case management model, centralizing case records and workflow state for ISD operations that administer income insurance services for more than 40,000 BCTF members. The implementation configured case automation, workflow orchestration, status tracking and process instrumentation to support end-to-end claims lifecycle management. The solution was designed to integrate with ISD systems explicitly named in the implementation, including Accounting SQL Server for financial transactions, OpenText Document Management for storage and retrieval of claim documents and the UnionWare member database for member identity and entitlement lookups. These integrations enable structured data exchange, document retrieval and member lookup to reduce manual entry and to support automated handoffs within the BPM flows. Governance and operational changes focused on consolidating case ownership within ISD workflows and enforcing consistent process steps through the Appian BPM Suite, while providing standardized communication templates to members. Appian BPM Suite also provided real-time dashboards and metrics generation to surface case status and process performance to ISD staff. The implementation delivered real-time insight into case status, significantly reduced entry errors and generated valuable metrics, and it enabled a uniform means of communication with members through the Appian BPM Suite.
