Oracle Legacy Oracle E-Business Suite ERP Financial ERP n/a 2014 2014
In 2014, Calcutta Electricity Supply implemented Oracle E-Business Suite 12.1.3 as its ERP Financial platform for the companys Power Distribution Franchisee business. The deployment targeted RP-Sanjiv Goenka Group franchise operations in Rajasthan, covering Kota, Bikaner and Bharatpur, and in Maharashtra at the Malegaon distribution franchisee. Oracle E-Business Suite was configured to deliver core ERP Financial capabilities including general ledger, accounts payable, accounts receivable, fixed asset accounting and revenue and billing workflows common to regulated utilities. Configuration work focused on a standardized chart of accounts, period close controls and automation across procure to pay and invoice to cash processes adapted for franchise billing and service contract accounting. The implementation included explicit integrations between the ERP Financial instance and Distribution Operation modules used by the Rajasthan franchisees to exchange Work Orders and Service contracts. Those integrations enabled financial posting triggers from work order execution and contract events, and supported transactional interfaces for cost capture, contract billing handoffs and accounting entries that span finance, field operations and customer service. Rollout was executed at franchisee site level across the cited districts with centralized financial governance to align franchise accounting and reporting. Governance and operational controls included change management, training for finance and operations teams and configuration management to preserve master data, intercompany settlement rules and month end accounting consistency.

Powerledger Legacy Powerledger Blockchain Platform Blockchain Platform Blockchain n/a 2021 2021
In 2021, Calcutta Electricity Supply Corporation implemented Powerledger Blockchain Platform, a Blockchain Platform, to run a large-scale peer to peer energy trading pilot in collaboration with India Smart Grid Forum and Powerledger. The pilot enrolled over 1,000 participants, including 213 prosumers and 788 consumers, and transacted 742.53 GWh of renewable energy across four months to evaluate market-based mechanisms as an alternative to existing net metering schemes and to determine value for both end consumers and CESC as the DISCOM. The deployment leveraged Powerledger Blockchain Platform capabilities for P2P participant matching, transparent transaction recording, market-based pricing and automated settlement, with smart contract enabled reconciliation of trades and visible trading results for buyers. Powerledger Blockchain Platform provided functional modules for trading orchestration, participant dashboards to observe outcomes and preference adjustments, and settlement workflows to reconcile prosumer and consumer transactions. Operational coverage was the CESC distribution footprint within the West Bengal pilot, spanning CESC operations, participating prosumers and consumers, and stakeholder review by regulators. Project governance included compilation of trading results and a detailed report presented to the West Bengal State Electricity Regulatory Commission, forming the basis for recommendations to enable P2P energy trading across the state. The pilot reported explicit financial outcomes, including total consumer savings of 233,703.73 INR over five months of trading, an average reduction of energy rates for consumers of 10%, and estimated monthly averages compared to net metering of approximately 170,000 INR savings for the DISCOM and approximately 105,000 INR savings for participating consumers. The project findings also stated that prosumers on existing feed in tariffs could save about 312,000 INR per month if they switched to P2P trading, and concluded that P2P trading delivered benefits to consumers, prosumers and the DISCOM, with prosumers on net metering gaining greater financial benefit by switching to P2P than by switching to a feed in tariff.
