Work on the Purchasing Card Strategy centered on transaction capture, automated reconciliation feeds into PeopleSoft Financial Applications, coding standards for card spend, and approval workflow configuration to ensure transactions flowed into the correct ledger accounts.
Integration efforts established interfaces to bring corporate purchasing card transaction data into Oracle PeopleSoft ERP, enabling batch and transactional posting patterns, reconciliation matching routines, and exception handling inside the PeopleSoft Financial Applications environment. Operational coverage included treasury, procurement, accounts payable, and centralized finance teams across PNC Bank in the United States, consolidating card spend into enterprise financial records and reporting.
Governance and process changes accompanied the technical work, with role based approval rules, reconciliation cadence, and segregation of duties configured inside Oracle PeopleSoft ERP. In 2020, PNC Bank implemented IBM BPM Standard to orchestrate Master Data Management workflows and automate MDM operational processes. The IBM BPM Standard deployment, categorized as Business Process Management, was used as the central orchestration layer to model, execute and monitor MDM-related workflow applications across data stewardship and operations functions.
The implementation included design and implementation of MDM-BPM process applications for discrete workflow modules, most notably a Physical MDM Suspected Duplicates process application, customizations to the IBM Data Stewardship Center user interface, and BPM services to integrate and interact with MDM transactions. Configuration work covered transaction customization, suspect duplicate handling through external rules, survivorship rules framework, and the use of BPM to route and manage reviewer tasks in operational workflows.
Architecturally the IBM BPM Standard instance was integrated with IBM InfoSphere MDM and IBM MQ to queue and process suspect duplicate tasks for the business operations team, with the IBM Probabilistic Matching Engine tuned to support matching and deduplication logic. The runtime environment included WebSphere as an application container and outputs were instrumented into Tableau for 360 Customer Data View and reconciliation reporting, while onshore and offshore teams coordinated operational support.
Governance and delivery followed Agile methodologies, with a named technical product lead overseeing requirement analysis, design, development, testing and documentation. Controls included code review gates prior to environment promotion and explicit Day 1 and Day 2 data load strategies, aligning IBM BPM Standard process orchestration with PNC Bank data stewardship and MDM governance practices.
