| Tensor plc | Legacy | Tensor WinTA.NET | Time and Attendance | HCM | n/a | 2003 | 2003 |
In 2003 Thomas Ridley Foodservice implemented Tensor WinTA.NET, a Time and Attendance application, to manage workforce time, access and attendance at its main Bury St Edmunds site. The initial deployment covered approximately 90 office staff and 150 warehouse staff, and was provisioned with on-premise T32xx clocking stations, T14xx smart card readers and biometric fingerprint readers that feed attendance and access events into Tensor WinTA.NET.
Functional modules in active use include the Tensor Self-Service Module SSM for browser and mobile holiday booking, authorisation and remote clocking, the HR module for secure document storage and training and fleet MOT record keeping, and the Fire Roll Call capability integrated with the Tensor FRC mobile app for rapid muster reporting. Clocking operations rely on contactless Tensor smartcards with radio frequency readers, two-factor authentication and duress codes, a configuration that supports hygiene protocols and fast, hands-free badge reads.
Operational integration includes automatic activation of the Fire Roll Call from the site fire alarm panel, producing printed muster reports or sending roll calls to the Tensor FRC app and including visitors and contract staff as part of the on-site presence record. In early 2020 Thomas Ridley worked with Tensor’s Systems Department engineers to upgrade to the latest generation of Tensor.NET, with remote webinar training delivered by Tensor trainers to the IT Systems Engineer, the warehouse duty manager and the office administrator, completed with minimal disruption to daily operations.
Governance and operational outcomes documented by the customer include staff training and adoption, a clearer user interface in Tensor WinTA.NET, and process changes that eliminated paper timesheets and holiday forms, improving people management workflows. The organisation has also evaluated Pandemic Management Software features such as employee health status recording, track and trace reporting and automatic access denied rules for absence codes, although those features were not required on site at the time of reporting.
