In 2019 Thompson Pharmacy implemented Epicor Eagle Loyalty, a Customer Loyalty application, as part of an Epicor Eagle business management deployment across its multi-store retail pharmacy footprint. The implementation covered four stores in Altoona, Pennsylvania and was positioned to support store operations, point of sale and pharmacy checkout workflows for the company’s approximately 150 employees.
Epicor Eagle Loyalty was configured alongside expanded POS capabilities and handheld inventory tools, enabling on‑floor adjustments to prices, quantity on hand and label printing. The deployment made Epicor Eagle Loyalty the central engine for rewards enrollment and electronic couponing, and it exposed reporting and loyalty data in the same operational layer used for sales and inventory management.
The solution was integrated with the QS/1 pharmacy management system to provide immediate visibility when a prescription is checked out, Epicor Eagle automatically uploads transactional information to QS/1 in real time so pharmacy and store teams have consistent data across locations. Operational coverage included pharmacy checkout, centralized POS administration and consolidated reporting across all four stores, with two people able to manage the POS environment for the entire estate.
Governance and process changes emphasized handheld driven inventory workflows, shifting label printing and price updates to staff on the sales floor and eliminating manual back and forth between receiving and sales areas. The loyalty program workflow moved from a paper voucher process that required printing, stamping and mailing to an electronic program managed inside Epicor Eagle Loyalty, reducing labor intensive monthly voucher tasks.
Reported outcomes that accompanied the rollout included immediate access to prescription checkout status at all locations, thousands of dollars in annual savings from the electronic loyalty program, lower ongoing labor requirements that avoided hiring additional POS staff and faster reporting cycles with routine reports running in about 30 minutes.
