| SAP | Legacy | SAP ERP ECC 6.0 | ERP Financial | ERP Financial Management | n/a | 2006 | 2006 |
In 2006, Toray Industries implemented SAP ERP ECC 6.0 as an ERP Financial upgrade project aimed at preserving conventional operability while improving system performance and reducing maintenance. The initiative targeted completion of preliminary survey, implementation, and operational cutover within about one year and set a nine month window to perform the core upgrade and interface rebuild to avoid business disruption during peak periods.
The project encompassed core finance and accounting functionality, with explicit work on the fund budget management area where the TR-CBM module behavior was validated against the successor FSCM-LP module. A policy to avoid expanding core functions guided the configuration approach, but detailed testing forced a functional cutover to FSCM-LP and the creation of an add-on table to preserve prior timestamp processing behavior when encrypted time stamps in the new release could not be read by existing add-on logic.
Integration and technical architecture work focused on renewing roughly 200 external interfaces, replacing an original in-house interface tool with ABAP based programs to improve maintainability and staffing sustainability. The implementation addressed platform performance issues caused by large data volumes and concurrent end user form access through code and infrastructure tuning, ABAP add-on programs, and targeted data handling changes, while coordinating a planned full migration during the 2007 summer shutdown window to minimize operational impact.
Governance and rollout relied on close cooperation with Toray Systems Center Co., Ltd. and Sakura Information Systems, detailed rehearsals, and visualization of progress to manage the compressed schedule. Sakura Information Systems provided flexible issue resolution during testing, and the project reported both performance improvement and maintenance reduction as outcomes after completing the SAP ERP ECC 6.0 upgrade and interface rebuild.

| SAP | Legacy | SAP SuccessFactors Employee Central | Core HR | HCM | n/a | 2019 | 2019 |
In 2019 Toray Industries implemented SAP SuccessFactors Employee Central as a cloud personnel information platform. The deployment established SAP SuccessFactors Employee Central as the Core HR system intended to strengthen human resources development and to support advanced human resources development business processes across the organization.
Implementation concentrated on creating a centralized personnel information repository and standardizing employee master data, while configuring organizational management, position structures, and HR process workflows typical of a Core HR implementation. Configuration work aligned employee records and HR process automation to Toray's talent and development objectives, reflecting category-aligned capabilities for workforce administration and organizational modeling.
SAP Japan and ABeam Consulting supported the conversion and ABeam Consulting led overall project promotion and rollout governance, coordinating configuration, testing, and stakeholder engagement across Toray's HR function. The system was provisioned as a cloud personnel information platform, positioning SAP SuccessFactors Employee Central as the authoritative personnel information platform for Toray Industries human resources operations and development processes.

| Soramitsu | Legacy | Hyperledger Iroha | Blockchain Platform | Blockchain | n/a | 2022 | 2022 |
In 2022, Toray Industries initiated a proof of concept collaboration with Soramitsu to deploy Hyperledger Iroha as a Blockchain Platform for product traceability tied to its sustainability agenda. The pilot targeted the &+ brand initiative that uses recycled polyethylene terephthalate, with an explicit programmatic goal to extend the blockchain-based traceability architecture to core polymers including fibers, resins, and films.
The implementation centers on immutable distributed ledger records and provenance tracking that capture events from material collection through manufacturing, final product distribution, collection, and reuse. Hyperledger Iroha is being used to record verifiable trace points and energy usage metrics for recycling processes, and the project includes consumer-facing verification and visualization capabilities so stakeholders can confirm closed-loop flows and environmental impact at the product level.
Operational integrations in the proof of concept are scoped to Toray supply chain participants and business partners, with a stated objective to validate frameworks that make it easier for those partners to interface their own traceability systems with the Hyperledger Iroha ledger. The implementation covers manufacturing, collection and reuse workflows, and is designed so anyone, anywhere can verify traceability records generated by the platform.
Governance for the trial is organized as a year long proof of concept through the year ending March 2023, with Toray using trial findings to identify integration friction, data governance requirements, and process changes needed to broaden the system. The company plans to use the validated framework to substantiate prospects for wider rollout across product lines while engaging supply chain stakeholders and consumers to participate in the closed loop economy.
