In 2013, Toshiba America implemented Oracle Cloud ERP, undertaking a lift and shift of Oracle E-Business Suite to Oracle OCI as IaaS. The program upgraded Oracle E-Business Suite to 12.2.8 and 12c while migrating platform workloads from Unix to Linux, aligning the application stack with cloud infrastructure. The migration approach emphasized infrastructure as a service hosting and platform parity to preserve EBS functional continuity.
The implementation focused on ERP Financial functional coverage across Quote and Order to Cash, Procure to Pay, Contract to Cash, Finance, and Manufacturing modules. Finance module scope included accounts receivable, accounts payable, fixed assets, cash management, and general ledger, implemented in Oracle EBS R12 for North American Toshiba companies. Workstreams included splitting finance modules from 10 different North American Toshiba companies into a consolidated North American EBS instance and standardizing business processes to enable a business process outsourcing model.
Operational support encompassed multiple coexisting Oracle ERP releases, including 11.5.9, 11.5.10, and R12, with responsibility for related applications such as Oracle Demantra which was upgraded and reimplemented. The program managed data center relocation of ERP and related applications and supported projects involving mergers and acquisitions, maintaining application availability across operating companies. The implementation impacted finance, order management, procurement, manufacturing and shared services functions across North American operating companies.
Program governance involved managing technical, functional, and project management resources across onshore and offshore teams, and operating as a member of the Shared Service Center to implement and support SLAs for Oracle EBS related activities. Processes were realigned to support finance standardization, periodic operating company updates, JSOX compliance and internal and external audits, coordinating with auditors for all operating companies. The deployment centralized Oracle Cloud ERP ERP Financial operations for North American Toshiba entities while retaining responsibility for supporting multiple Oracle ERP system instances.
