| The Access Group | Legacy | Access PeopleXD (formerly CoreHR) | Core HR | HCM | n/a | 2021 | 2021 |
In 2021, TU Dublin implemented Access PeopleXD, formerly CoreHR, as its Core HR platform for Human Resources. The 2021 program included a CoreHR integration and alignment project that merged the City, Tallaght and Blanchardstown campus HR systems into a single Core HR instance hosted for university-wide HR operations.
The implementation concentrated on CoreTime time and attendance administration, Leave and Benefits, and the employee portal and CorePortal modules. Configuration work covered Time and Attendance rules, leave balances and year rollover processes, hourly paid appointment and cessation workflows, and background fixes required for annual rollovers. The project team developed online forms for Hourly Paid appointment processing and for manager access requests, using MS Forms to automate approval routing and notifications.
Operational integrations and handoffs were explicitly procedural rather than vendor specific, with HR staff acting as primary points of contact for Payroll and campus HR teams. Approval workflows created by the project automatically request sign off from Heads of School and Faculty Deans, and notify HR and ICT when approvals complete. The HR team logged system issues with the Access Group as vendor and coordinated resolution and module testing during upgrades.
Governance and rollout emphasized cross campus business process alignment and centralized service delivery, with the City Campus leading CoreTime and Leave and Benefits consolidation. The program included training, step by step guides for managers and administrators, preparation of communications for staff, and a planned centralization of the Leave and Benefits team from September 2023. A remote Time and Attendance solution for staff working off site was proposed and accepted by the University Executive Team.
As implemented, the automated forms and approval workflows reduced manual intervention in HR intake processes, and the Access PeopleXD Core HR deployment has been used across the university since August 2021 for hourly paid appointment processing and manager access requests.
