RISA Tech Legacy RISA-3D 3D Modeling PLM and Engineering n/a 2018 2020 In 2018, the United States Olympic & Paralympic Museum implemented RISA-3D in a 3D Modeling workflow to support structural engineering for the museum project in Colorado Springs, Colorado. The deployment targeted analysis of complex composite steel framing and the behavior of diaphragms and nodes across multiple intermediate floors and the museum’s distinctive roof and façade systems. RISA-3D was used together with RISAFloor and the RISA-Revit Link to produce analysis-ready models, with RISA-3D providing three dimensional finite element and frame element analysis and RISAFloor supplying floor-level stiffness and diaphragm definitions. Configuration emphasized modeling of composite framing, lateral load paths, and nodal connectivity to enable accurate diaphragm and nodal analyses consistent with structural engineering practice. KL&A executed the integrated workflow, leveraging the RISA-Revit Link to exchange geometry and analysis data with Revit, improving interoperability between building information models and structural analysis models. The operational scope covered structural engineering functions for the museum, producing diaphragm and nodal outputs used for detailing, coordination, and constructability reviews on site in Colorado Springs. The implementation completed in 2020, and the documented workflow improved interoperability with Revit while ensuring the stability and constructability of the museum’s roof and façade systems. Governance centered on coordinated model exchange protocols and analysis-to-documentation handoffs between KL&A structural engineering teams and the broader project delivery process.
