In 2012 University of New Orleans deployed Oracle PeopleSoft ERP as an ERP Financial application to centralize campus financial operations. The Oracle PeopleSoft ERP implementation was positioned to support core financial management workflows across the university, providing a multi tier application architecture for transaction processing, general ledger control, accounts payable, procurement, and asset management functions common to ERP Financial systems.
Operationally the IT team manages the supporting infrastructure, operating 150 Windows servers dedicated to the Oracle PeopleSoft ERP environment. The deployment is supported by a multi server topology that includes dedicated authentication and directory services, with 12 Active Directory domain controllers, 6 ADFS servers, and 8 RADIUS servers described in the operational notes, and is monitored using System Center Operations Manager and Audit Collection services.
Identity and access responsibilities are split, with Active Directory Federation services and Dirsync for students outsourced to Microsoft Office 365 while internal PKI with smart cards is maintained in house. Governance and run book procedures emphasize server operations and identity lifecycle management, with the campus team remaining on call to troubleshoot server issues and manage authentication, federation, and certificate services that integrate with the Oracle PeopleSoft ERP ERP Financial environment.
