| Intuit | Legacy | Intuit QuickBooks Desktop | ERP Financial | ERP Financial Management | n/a | 2017 | 2017 |
In 2017, Vail Resorts implemented Intuit QuickBooks Desktop as its ERP Financial solution. The deployment supported core accounting operations in Broomfield, Colorado and was used by an accounts receivable specialist beginning in October 2017, covering invoicing, billing, reconciliations and ongoing bookkeeping duties.
Intuit QuickBooks Desktop was configured to manage accounts receivable and accounts payable workflows, including invoicing, customer and vendor bill entry, journal entry bookkeeping, check writing and deposits. The implementation supported routine financial reporting such as Profit and Loss statements, routine bank and credit card reconciliations, monthly and quarterly sales tax processing, and bookkeeping tasks tied to an internal company database design and upkeep.
Operational integrations explicit in the environment included payroll processing coordinated between Insperity and QuickBooks, use of Excel spreadsheets for supplemental reporting and tracking, and daily filing with periodic quarterly transfer of financial files as part of document retention and operational cadence. Collections and customer communications were handled through the same AR function, with the system used to track vehicle mileage and location related records and other operational data maintained by the accounting team.
Governance and workflow adjustments centered on centralized AR responsibilities, monthly and quarterly tax and reconciliation cycles, and maintenance of the QuickBooks company file as the primary accounting repository. Day to day operational ownership rested with accounting staff performing A/P, A/R, reconciliations, payroll coordination and collections, while Intuit QuickBooks Desktop served as the core ERP Financial application driving these processes.

| SAP | Legacy | SAP SuccessFactors Compensation | Compensation Management | HCM | n/a | 2013 | 2013 |
In 2013, Vail Resorts implemented SAP SuccessFactors Compensation as its Compensation Management solution to centralize HR compensation decisioning across divisions. The deployment was intended to identify top performers and differentiate pay based on employee performance, tying merit increases and bonus payments to individual, divisional, and company results.
SAP SuccessFactors Compensation was configured to support performance-linked merit and variable-pay workflows and to manage goal-based evaluations. The implementation captured more than 450 custom goals across 68 positions, enabling role-specific goal sets and streamlined configuration of complex variable-pay rules. The system supports differentiated rules for merit pools and bonus distribution consistent with Compensation Management best practices.
Operational coverage extended across multiple divisions and departments, including explicit use cases in the real estate division and the mountain operations division. The real estate division measures property units sold while the mountain division focuses on customer satisfaction scores, demonstrating the application of distinct performance indicators within the same Compensation Management framework. Governance and process changes aligned pay outcomes to individual and group performance, creating consistent evaluation criteria across geographically adjacent resorts.
The project emphasized fairness and retention-oriented calibration of rewards, reflected in executive commentary that prior local goal discrepancies created dissatisfaction, quoted by Mark Gasta SVP and CHRO as We could have people from two resorts a few miles away and in the same position that did not share the same goals. The implementation allowed Vail Resorts to invest employees in outcomes, standardize evaluation for similar roles across divisions, and provide the necessary flexibility to administer complex variable-pay programs using SAP SuccessFactors Compensation.
