In 2014, Votorantim Group implemented SAP ERP ECC 6.0 as a centralized enterprise application to unify finance operations across its industrial units. The initiative created a single shared technology center and provisioned a single SAP ERP and database landscape accessed by about 10,000 users in Brazil and worldwide, consolidating financial transaction processing and executive reporting.
The SAP ERP ECC 6.0 deployment focused on ERP Financial capabilities, with core finance modules and configuration covering controlling CO, profitability analysis COPA, consolidation CFM, general ledger GL, accounts receivable AR, accounts payable AP, treasury TR, and asset accounting AA. The landscape also included SAP NetWeaver Business Warehouse and SAP NW Portal to support consolidated reporting, financial analytics, and user access workflows, plus extensive customizing, training, and support.
Infrastructure was built on IBM Power 795 and IBM Power 595 servers running IBM AIX, with IBM DB2 as the database platform, delivering a single database landscape for all business units. DB2 compression of tables and indexes produced data storage savings of more than 40 percent, and DB2 online defragmentation and online table migration features increased availability by two hours per month, a 20 percent improvement.
Operational governance centralized finance processing and reporting into the shared technology center, changing workflows for consolidation and executive reporting and establishing centralized support and change management. IBM Business Partner TIVIT provided implementation, customizing, training, and support services for the SAP ERP ECC 6.0 rollout, and IT operations leadership framed the program as delivering materially improved functionality and group-wide information accuracy as noted by IT-Operations Manager José Evaristo.
