In 2018, Wastequip implemented Microsoft Dynamics 365 for Finance and Operations, adopting an ERP Financial platform to centralize cost accounting and inventory controls. The Microsoft Dynamics 365 for Finance and Operations deployment was positioned to support manufacturing finance and product costing workflows across Wastequip.
The implementation configured core cost accounting and inventory capabilities aligned with standard product costing, including finished goods, subassembly stock, and work in process cost structures. Functional modules and capabilities implemented included standard costing, variance analysis, monthly balance sheet reconciliations, aging and excess and obsolescence reserve processes, cycle count controls, physical inventory planning, and item actual cost and profitability modeling for commercial reporting.
Operational coverage encompassed twenty manufacturing facilities in the United States and Mexico, with the finance organization and the Commercial team using the new application for cost and profitability analysis. Implementation responsibilities reflected by internal leadership included planning and training for annual physical inventories and a company-wide cycle count program, process oversight, variance reporting, and root cause analysis, and the deployment was part of a transition from Macola to Microsoft Dynamics 365 for Finance and Operations.
Governance and workflow changes centered on centralizing cost accounting activities under a single system, formalizing monthly reconciliation and variance analysis routines, and instituting standardized inventory counting procedures across sites. The configuration of Microsoft Dynamics 365 for Finance and Operations established a single ERP Financial backbone for Wastequip cost accounting, inventory valuation, and manufacturing financial controls.
