Sony Creative Software Legacy Sony Catalyst Production Suite Video Editing Content Management n/a 2015 2015
In 2015 World Media Rights implemented Sony Catalyst Production Suite as a core Video Editing application to support post production ingest and camera native workflows across its post production operation. The Sony Catalyst Production Suite was positioned to centralize clip assembly, transcoding and metadata workflows within the studio, aligning with the companys small, freelance-driven post production model. Implementation focused on configuring ingest and clip management capabilities, automated transcoding pipelines and metadata normalization for multiple camera formats, leveraging Sony Catalyst Production Suite for browse and preparation tasks. The deployment was aligned with existing scripting automation efforts, including FFMPEG batch scripts used for automated transcoding and workflow automation, and incorporated Sony Catalyst Browse for camera rush handling and previewing. The Sony Catalyst Production Suite was integrated into an on-premises media architecture that supported 11 offline suites, 3 capture stations and 2 online suites, with shared storage and backup systems including Nexis ISIS, Evo, EditShare and Xendata LTO backups. Network and server configurations were part of the scope, with rack mounted media servers, SFP plus bridging and managed switches used to ensure media throughput, and the solution operated alongside camera utility tools such as Canon XF Utility for acquisition support. Operational governance included license and version management, documentation of workflows, and training for internal and freelance staff on new ingest and transcoding procedures. Infrastructure work performed in parallel, notably the Nexis MXF workflow upgrade, explicitly increased bandwidth, capacity and stealth in data protection and security for the post production environment.
