In 2012, Zinfra implemented SAP ERP ECC 6.0 in a program to digitise maintenance and work assignment workflows under Jemena’s operations and maintenance contract on the United Energy electricity network in Victoria. The deployment aligned SAP ERP ECC 6.0 with the ERP Financial category to centralise transaction recording and provide an enterprise backbone for planning, scheduling and resource-related cost accounting.
To digitise resource allocation Zinfra implemented SAP Multi Resource Scheduling MRS to provide resource management for services and plant maintenance, optimise assignments by travel times, priority and qualifications, and to timestamp work activities. MRS configuration focused on scheduling orchestration, dispatch boards, crew qualification matching and mobile enabled work order acknowledgement to replace paper-based processes and siloed spreadsheets.
Jemena engaged DXC to design, plan and implement SAP Multi Resource Scheduling, delivering a single set of planning and scheduling processes across multiple depots and sites. Operational coverage targeted all parties and locations involved in the United Energy contract in Victoria, and the implementation impacted asset maintenance, planning, scheduling, dispatch and equipment provisioning workflows.
Governance and rollout emphasized workforce adoption and iterative design, with program leadership committing to modify subsequent rollouts based on real life learnings to ease transition for crews. Reported outcomes included the removal of time-consuming manual paper workflows, a consolidated near real-time view of work and resources, greater process consistency across depots and timestamped activity data that enables deeper operational insight into work order accuracy and crew productivity.
