Beam Suntory | Consumer Packaged Goods | 6000 | $3.1B | United States | Cohesity | Cohesity SmartFiles | Cloud Storage | 2016 | Ethos Technology |
In 2016, Beam Suntory deployed Cohesity SmartFiles as a Cloud Storage solution to consolidate file services and secondary data protection across its Americas environment. The deployment was positioned to improve branding team collaboration and to provide reliable access to large image and video assets used across the company.
Beam Suntory implemented Cohesity C2500 hyperconverged nodes, configuring both Cohesity SmartFiles and Cohesity DataProtect to deliver a single, web scale platform that combined file services and data protection. The configuration enabled instant access to large media files and the ability to restore lost data within minutes, supporting brand asset management and creative workflows.
Ethos Technology led the implementation, consolidating outsourced backup services onto the Cohesity platform and configuring scale out file services to handle corporate assets. Operational coverage focused on IT infrastructure and branding teams, with Server, Storage and Database Services responsible for ongoing administration and access control.
Governance and operations were simplified through consolidation, eliminating upgrade outages and lowering total cost of ownership, while future proofing storage capacity for growth. Cohesity SmartFiles as a Cloud Storage implementation centralized file service delivery and secondary data management across Beam Suntorys environment.

Kyriba | Professional Services | 1000 | $280M | United States | Cohesity | Cohesity SmartFiles | Cloud Storage | 2020 | n/a |
In 2020, Kyriba deployed Cohesity SmartFiles as part of a Cloud Storage implementation that also leveraged Cohesity DataPlatform and Cohesity DataProtect to unify data management across its hybrid cloud estate. The implementation addressed backup and recovery, disaster recovery, and scale-out NAS use cases for a global financial services application landscape that includes production and non production workloads and hundreds of millions of files in multiple bank formats.
Kyriba configured Cohesity DataPlatform, DataProtect, and Cohesity SmartFiles to provide software defined enterprise file services and automated backup orchestration. The deployment used workload tagging to distinguish protection policies for production versus non production systems, tiered storage policies including S3 Glacier targets for long term retention, and built in encryption for data at rest and in transit to meet regulatory retention and compliance requirements.
Integrations were implemented with public cloud and infrastructure platforms explicitly including Amazon Web Services, Microsoft Azure, Oracle, VMware, and observability with Splunk, while orchestration tied into Chef and Terraform for automated backups and DR exercises. The rollout centralized numerous small file servers into a smaller set of SmartFiles clusters across physical data centers and cloud regions, enabling full cluster restores to AWS or Azure regions as well as restores to virtual machines or physical data centers.
Governance and operational processes were restructured around a rigid workload tagging strategy and Cohesity policy automation to create a single unified business continuity plan from previously separate backup processes. Results called out by Kyriba include unified business continuity planning from four to one backup and DR products and processes, a 50 percent reduction in NAS troubleshooting, 25 percent auditing time savings for GDPR SWIFT SOC CIS requirements, shorter DR testing windows reduced from multiple days to one day, and faster restores in production and non production environments.

Manhattan Associates | Professional Services | 4690 | $1.0B | United States | Cohesity | Cohesity SmartFiles | Cloud Storage | 2018 | n/a |
In 2018, Manhattan Associates implemented Cohesity SmartFiles as part of a Cohesity DataPlatform deployment to consolidate approximately one petabyte of secondary data, addressing scalability and virtual machine protection complexity. The deployment is categorized as Cloud Storage and was focused on unifying backup targets and scale-out file services to simplify secondary storage operations across the IT organization.
The implementation used Cohesity File Services management combined with Cohesity CloudTier to provision NFS datastores and provide support for SMB protocols, consolidating data protection and file storage. Cohesity CloudArchive was configured to migrate inactive, cold virtual machines natively to AWS S3 with long-term archival to Amazon Glacier, and data moved to the cloud is deduplicated and compressed for storage efficiency.
The project was executed in partnership with SHI and integrated technology partners AWS, Pure Storage, and VMware, aligning Cohesity DataPlatform with existing virtualization and storage infrastructure. Operational scope centered on virtual machine protection and secondary storage consolidation, impacting storage administration, backup operations, and IT infrastructure management.
Governance and operational changes included centralizing backup software, target storage, scale-out file storage, and cloud integration onto a single platform to reduce administrative complexity. Explicit outcomes reported by Manhattan Associates include CapEx reduction through commodity hardware optimized for Cohesity, OpEx savings from consolidated administration and reduced training, upgrade autonomy for the IT team without service disruptions, faster backup windows, elimination of tape dependence, and budget optimization via a scale-out, pay-as-you-grow model.
