CML Fulfilment & Logistics Distribution 358 $75M United Kingdom Principal Systems In-DEX WMS Warehouse Management Warehouse Management 2019 n/a
In 2019 CML Fulfilment & Logistics implemented In-DEX WMS Warehouse Management to manage a single high-volume ambient and chill 3PL depot in Telford, Shropshire. The deployment targeted CML’s cross-dock intensive operation which spans 225,000 sq. ft with 18 dock levellers, approximately 3,000 ambient pallet spaces and 15,000 chill pallet spaces, operating 24 hours a day, 365 days a year and processing night-time cross-dock peaks that had grown to averages of 7,000 pallets and occasional nights in excess of 9,000 pallets. The In-DEX WMS Warehouse Management implementation was configured to automate Goods In and cross-dock workflows while preserving throughput velocity. The system was used to pre-print pallet labels from delivery orders per RDC by supplier, and handheld terminal scanning of applied pallet labels triggered automatic creation and confirmation of Goods In, a lookup of pending goods out and immediate direction to the correct loading bay. Standard In-DEX WMS functionality was also used for receipting, storage and pick-to-zero picking for short shelf life chill product, delivering operational control and KPI visibility. Operational integration focused on using delivery orders per RDC as the primary inbound data feed and an automated label distribution workflow that emailed pallet labels to suppliers. The physical process combined visual operator checks with pre-printed labels and HHT scans, enabling rapid reconciliation of unlabelled inbound pallets without reliance on supplier ASN files. The solution supported CML’s daily deliveries to Aldi RDCs and accommodated continually changing suppliers while maintaining the single-depot operational footprint. Governance and process change centered on a single-scan goods in and cross-dock routine, the introduction of pre-printed supplier pallet labelling and supplier label distribution via email, and standard WMS storage and picking controls. Outcomes reported by CML include maintained operation speed and volumes alongside improved forward and backwards traceability, enhanced controls and KPI information, and operational capacity that supported subsequent growth.
Ornua Manufacturing 2900 $4.0B Ireland Principal Systems In-DEX WMS Warehouse Management Warehouse Management 2015 n/a
In 2015 Ornua implemented In-DEX WMS Warehouse Management to operationalize cold store and distributor-facing warehouse workflows. The deployment aligned to the Warehouse Management category and targeted refrigerated warehouse operations and central distribution, providing a platform for inventory control, order fulfilment and logistics coordination. Implementation focused on inventory management, automated picklist generation and exception handling. In-DEX WMS Warehouse Management delivered real-time stock information and product traceability, and it automated transaction processing to reduce manual data entry for store users. Configuration emphasized role based work queues so warehouse operators received picklists and tasks directly related to their operational responsibilities. The solution was connected online directly with distributor systems, enabling stock updates and transaction messages to flow automatically between cold stores, the distributor and Ornua systems. Transaction queries and discrepancies were flagged in real-time for immediate resolution, and automated payment related transactions progressed without extra input from stores, with In-DEX WMS users largely unaware of back-end exchanges other than generated picklists. Integrations supported inbound receipts, outbound pick and shipment notifications across cold store sites and central warehouse locations. Governance shifted toward centralized electronic records and automated exception workflows, reducing paper handling in stores and enforcing standardized resolution processes for discrepancies. Operational workflows were restructured so logistics partners and warehouse staff operated from a single system of record, improving coordination between warehouse execution and transport handling. Explicit outcomes reported included reduced data entry at store level, shared real-time stock information across Ornua and its distributors, improved product traceability through the supply chain, faster automatic payment handling via immediate discrepancy flagging, and reduced truck turnaround times because shipment and load data were often available on In-DEX WMS before vehicle arrival.
