Devro Consumer Packaged Goods 2000 $347M United Kingdom Tungsten Automation Kofax AP Agility AP Automation 2021 n/a
In 2021, Devro implemented Kofax AP Agility to centralize AP Automation for its global Accounts Payable function, moving transactional processing into a Head Office Shared Service in Moodiesburn. The first phase consolidated AP operations from two Scottish sites and from Australia and the United States, processing roughly 50,000 invoices per annum, most received as PDF and a small proportion received on paper. Kofax AP Agility was configured to digitize invoices from multiple formats, accurately extract business information, and perform automated verification and invoice-to-order matching. The deployment implemented automated invoice workflows that route successfully matched invoices directly into JD Edwards, while exceptions enter a pre-agreed compliant workflow for additional validation and approval. Non PO invoices are routed to business approvers for review and action, enabling invoice viewing and decisioning in context. The implementation was delivered by Embrace Digital and included integration to the companys JD Edwards ERP for posting matched invoices. The second phase operationalized Kofax AP Agility for the Czech Republic element of Devros operations, consistent with the requirement to process all AP activity in either of the Shared Service Centers. Governance changes formalized compliant exception handling and approval routing, standardizing processes across sites and creating end-to-end traceability from invoice receipt through ERP posting. Detailed reports and dashboards provide immediate visibility into invoice processing, supplier performance and spend management, and the platform removed the manual burden of data entry while accelerating approval throughput and enabling ongoing KPI tracking to identify process bottlenecks.

Configuration work emphasized extraction rules, multi‑stage validation and approval routing tailored to retail supplier profiles and invoice formats. Kofax AP Agility was integrated with the company's SAP ECC6.0 environment to support invoice posting and vendor master alignment, leveraging ECC6.0 integration points for transactional handoff. Tungsten Automation supplied the Kofax technology and NTT Data acted as systems integrator, providing SAP technical services, interface development and end to end testing. Rollout governance was executed through accounts payable and core finance teams with SAP Senior Technical Consultant resources from NTT Data responsible for configuration, testing and cutover coordination across ECC6.0 modules. Process governance focused on embedding automated capture and routing within existing procure to pay controls and approval workflows.

Kofax MarkView document imaging and Kofax Markview SignDoc were configured for invoice capture and document signature use cases, and Kofax Analytics for Capture was used to support extraction and validation as part of Kofax AP Agility driven AP processing. Integrations were implemented to exchange procurement and logistics documents, including inbound purchase order formats POI 850, purchase order change POCI 860, inbound invoice INI 810, advanced ship notice ASNI 856, and shipping and billing notice SBNI 857. A Trading Partner Link to an e-Commerce Gateway was set up for partner connectivity, and functional design of conversion and integration programs was completed to map inbound feeds into Oracle transaction structures. Governance and rollout activities followed a structured SDLC, with Joint Application Design sessions, Conference Room Pilots, System Integration Testing, and User Acceptance Testing used to validate procure to pay scenarios. Deliverables produced included Business Requirement Documents, Functional Specification Documents, Data Mapping Documents, and Functional Testing Documents, and the team executed data mapping and conversions for items, purchase orders, on-hand quantities, costs, and categories. The Procure to Pay Functional Lead based in Cary, North Carolina managed end user training, on the job enablement, and resolution of CRP, SIT, and UAT issues across distribution and manufacturing tracks. The engagement included AS-IS business process analysis, TO-BE process design using standard Oracle functionality, and the design of a customer return process integrated into inventory and shipping workflows.
