In 2015, Columbus Logistics deployed WatchGuard Endpoint Security, an Endpoint Detection and Response (EDR) solution, to harden endpoints across its distribution operations. The implementation targeted client desktops and laptops running Windows XP through Windows 10 and Ubuntu clients, as well as Windows Server 2003, 2008 and 2016 and Debian and Ubuntu servers at the Cormano site. Deployment was overseen by the in-house Systems Engineer who also managed infrastructure and the user help desk.
Configuration focused on agent rollout, centralized management and policy enforcement, detection and remediation workflows, and quarantine controls consistent with Endpoint Detection and Response (EDR) functional patterns. The EDR footprint was deployed alongside existing network security components including WatchGuard and Fortigate firewalls, VPN site to site tunnels through firewall and UMTS router, VMware ESXi 5.5 hosted virtual machines, Synology and Lenovo NAS storage, and Veeam Endpoint Backup tasks, with operational support via the company support ticket system. Governance and operational ownership remained within the Columbus Logistics system administration team, who handled configuration, backup verification and help desk escalation for endpoint incidents.

Operational ownership and ongoing maintenance were handled by the company System Administrator, responsible for configuration, policy control, and day to day support across virtual infrastructure, endpoint agents, and remote access services.
