Index Energy Ajax | Utilities | 100 | $15M | Canada | Aptean | Aptean EAM TabWare | Enterprise Asset Management | 2018 | n/a | In 2018, Index Energy Ajax implemented Aptean EAM TabWare to establish a computer-based maintenance management capability at its integrated biomass co-generation plant. The Aptean EAM TabWare Enterprise Asset Management deployment was scoped to support the plant maintenance organization and senior management oversight of safety, maintenance, shutdown and operational workflows. The implementation instantiated core maintenance management functions, explicitly covering work order management and coordinated maintenance shutdown planning. The deployment also tracked employee training and government certification, safety records, and role-based access for trades personnel, while leveraging standard Enterprise Asset Management capabilities such as preventive maintenance scheduling, an asset registry, spare parts inventory control, labor assignment and time tracking, and operational reporting. Operational coverage centered on the Ajax, ON plant, supporting a maintenance group of 15 direct trades reports across electricians, millwrights, wood handling and facilities maintenance, with contractor management scaling to roughly 50 during planned shutdowns. Aptean EAM TabWare was applied to workflows spanning the complete cycle of electrical generation from biomass handling through to sale of power, enabling cross-functional coordination between maintenance and plant operations. Governance and process changes accompanied the technical rollout, including development of employee training and certification packages, formalized shutdown coordination procedures, and centralized scheduling and approval workflows led by the Maintenance Manager as a member of the plant senior management team. The implementation aligned maintenance execution and safety documentation with operational planning while placing responsibility for safe and cost effective operation within the plant management framework. | |
